This season, we’ve been enjoying seeing all of the fantastic centrepieces in this issue come to life. Our cover cake by Karen Taylor uses clever cake carving and sugar modelling to create a tree being decorated by woodland friends – sure to be a hit with all the family. We also love the technique used by Scrum Diddly of airbrushing a dark colour over cut-outs then painting in the white shapes left behind. Combined with sugar flowers, the result is beautiful.
The festive white chocolate entremet tutorial from master chocolatier Mark Tilling would be a wonderful way to improve your chocolate skills and impress friends and family this season. There are also plenty of show-stopping wedding cakes for any time of year, including a colourful tropical design, a celadon and peach cake with a clever billow-effect tier and a spectacular Indian elephant.
We’re pleased to introduce you to a new contributor: talented Finnish cake maker Emma Iivanainen. She shares an on-trend ombre heart confetti cake design – look out for tutorials exclusive to Cakes & Sugarcraft magazine from her in future issues. If you’d like to develop your cake-making and sugarcraft skills even further, find out how to win £1,250 to spend on courses at Squires Kitchen International School, one of Europe’s best-established cake decorating schools.
